SUSAN G. KOMEN FOR THE
CURE PAYS $479,000 TO CEO
Judith Solerno is running a charity. According to records she’s being paid $479,858 a year to do it. Founder Nancy Brinker, after getting major flack a few years ago for lavish spending that included a massive salary, private jets and Presidential suites at major hotels worldwide, all paid for by donors, claimed she was stepping down and becoming an unpaid consultant. But records indicate she was paid $397,093 in their filings in 2015. The charity made a big deal of claiming new CEO Judith Solerno will be paid “less than Brinker was as CEO.” The last year of Brinker’s CEO salary was $684,000. So they are paying Solerno less. But it is still an outrageous salary for running what is supposed to be a charity. Thousands of people, many of whom earn very little, donate money to this organization just to have people at the top taking huge paychecks. Consider the CEO is taking over $9,000 a week in pay. If you advertised a CEO position at the Charity and it paid $200,000 a year you’d have a thousand women applying for the job and happy to make that much. Until donors complain about this, or stop giving their hard earned money to this charity, the freeloading at the top will continue.
