GANGSTER JOEY MERLINO WALKS ON EVERY CHARGE After a hung Jury, Boca Raton resident and alleged Boss of the Philly Crime family is the new Teflon Don.
After 30 hours of deliberations the Jury in the Joey Merlino trial told the judge they are deadlocked. So a mistrial was declared and Joey "Skinny Joey" Merlino is a free man. JR Rubeo, the governments Rat, testified for days but apparently some jurors did not believe much of what he said. Joey is now back in Boca Raton, and while 16 other alleged mobsters took deals and are serving time, Joey's gamble to go to trial has paid off. The only reliable thing that came out of the trial was Joey's comment days before the Super Bowl that the Eagles were a lock to win it. Merlino is now on supervised bail release until the Feds decide whether to re-try him, so he's got to be inside his Boca townhome every night by 11pm. March 6th is the date when the government will show up to court to tell the judge what they plan to do. Rumors are Merlino's lawyers are talking to the Feds about a plea deal which would include no jail time. There are also rumors the jury was deadlocked at 10-2, 11-1 or 9-3 in favor of conviction on some counts.
